While in high school in the early 70’s, when bass guitars were king, Kerrville native Gary Hatch was loaned a dusty old WW II vintage doghouse bass. While his friends were rocking out to the top hits of the day, he was developing his chops with popular area jazz and swing artists to the sounds of New Orleans Dixieland and Big Band. He left for Texas A&M well prepared to make the switch to bluegrass, country, gospel and pop, playing and singing with friends for extra spending money. Today, his love for all musical styles and a knack for singing vocal harmony against a simultaneous bass thump allows him to enjoy performing with many groups and genres. His standup bass can be heard on several Texas artist CD’s. He is an architect, married for 28 years and enjoys songwriting and remodeling his 86 year old hillside home.
