7.31.24  Remembering and celebrating the great Rupert Neve. Today would have been his 98th birthday. The British gentleman's pursuit of sound quality and innovation helped create generations of memorable music and earned him recognition as the "father of modern recording.” As a boy in Argentina, Rupert learned to dismantle and repair shortwave radios. In WWII, he served in the Royal Corps of Signals as a communication specialist. His wall of industry tech awards includes a GRAMMY for ”...unparalleled advances in the quality of recorded sound … dedication to purity of audio reproduction … [and] his influence on a generation of audio designers.” Mr. Neve’s influence is stronger than ever today in studios across the world. For us, however, it’s personal. As neighbors and friends, our visits with Rupert and wife Evelyn are some of our fondest memories. Rupert’s legacy lives on in at Blue Rock and in us.
